Ad Standards welcomes new Board members
Australia’s independent advertising complaints adjudicator, Ad Standards, today announced the appointment of two new Board members.
“These appointments will strengthen the delivery of a world-leading self-regulation complaints handling system for advertising in Australia” said Mr David Scribner, Chair of Ad Standards.
Welcoming the new members, Mr Scribner noted the extensive global marketing and PR experience Ms Lisa Ronson and Mr Wayne Gabriel will bring to the Ad Standards Board at an exciting time of increasing engagement with the community and the wider business and advertising sectors.
Ms Ronson is the Chief Marketing Officer for Tourism Australia, responsible for leading the organisation’s global marketing strategy. She has extensive international marketing experience across a diverse range of industries, previously working with Westpac, David Jones, Telstra, Visa International and Fosters Brewing Group.
“Lisa is a commercially-focused senior executive with 20 years’ experience across multiple national and global brands. She is highly regarded within the marketing, advertising and media industry and will contribute extensive expertise especially in the digital strategy space,” said Mr Scribner.
The appointment of Mr Gabriel to the Ad Standards Board brings further industry expertise, with over 30 years of leadership and marketing experience in the automotive sector. Mr Gabriel is the Chief Marketing Officer at Toyota Australia.
“As the marketing leader at Toyota Australia, Wayne is a champion of brand growth that delivers tangible business outcomes. His commercial skills in a very competitive industry will add great dimension to the Ad Standards Board,” Mr Scribner said.
Mr Scribner also thanked outgoing Board member Mr Andrew Caie for his expertise and contributions to the success of a self-regulation and complaints system that is transparent, efficient and accessible.
Ms Ronson and Mr Gabriel join David Scribner (Chief Customer Officer, Ooh Media), Vince Meoli (Commercial Director, Hyland), Matthew Hall (Managing Director, Artifex Advisors) and Louise Eyres (Chief Marketing Officer, Sport Australia) as members of the Ad Standards Board of Directors.
The Board works to ensure Ad Standards effectively administers the self-regulatory advertising complaints handling system in Australia to ensure the standards of advertising are in line with community values.
