Work with us

Working with Ad Standards is a unique opportunity to contribute to Australia’s system of advertising self-regulation.

CURRENT VACANCIES

Ad Standards Community Panel members

We’re currently looking for people who can represent community views to join the Ad Standards Community Panel.

About the role

Community Panel members come from all walks of life – representative of the diversity of Australian society.

The Community Panel considers complaints made about ads. Community Panel members work together to decide if an advertiser has broken the rules that are in place to ensure advertising meets community standards.

Each Community Panel member attends about 10 - 12 meetings a year. Most are via video conference which means you can attend from anywhere in Australia. There is a modest payment for each meeting and travel expenses will be met for any face-to-face meetings that take place in Sydney (3 - 4 times a year).

Membership of the Panel is on an individual basis and members do not represent any industry, consumer, or special interest group.

No experience is needed and training is provided to all new Community Panel members.

Who should apply?

The Community Panel is not a team of advertising or legal experts. If you enjoy working as part of a team and believe that you can represent community views and standards, then we'd love to hear from you.

Ad Standards values diversity. First Nations people, individuals from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, gender and sexuality diverse people are especially encouraged to apply.

How to apply

To apply, send us a short statement (no more than a page) that tells us who you are, why you’re interested in joining the Community Panel, and what involvement you have in your community. If you have a CV, send that through too.

Applications close midnight Friday 9 September 2022 and should be sent to [email protected]
