Steven Toombs

Community Panel member

Appointed January 2026

Steven was born and raised in Sydney. He is a retired registered architect, is married with two adult children and has recently relocated to Canberra. Since moving to Canberra he has joined the local community wine appreciation club, and the Burley Griffin Canoe Club which provides an opportunity for social paddling on the Molonglo River and Lake Burley Griffin.

Steven spent the majority of his professional career spanning some 40+ years designing and delivering corporate commercial office interiors, bringing precision and creative vision to every project. In contrast, one of his early highlights as an architect was the design and build of a mudbrick house for his mother in rural NSW.

His current interests include the fascinating world of beekeeping, mentoring people new to beekeeping, and enjoying and teaching the tranquil art of trout fly fishing. An avid traveller, which facilitates trips to pristine trout fishing destinations like New Zealand and Tasmania, Steven is also a competent home cook, always looking for new culinary adventures to share with his family and friends.
