Applications open for the Ad Standards Community Panel

The Ad Standards Community Panel are the centrepiece of Australia’s advertising self-regulatory system. We’re looking to add some new faces – and voices – who can represent community views about advertising content.

What does a Community Panel member do?

As a member of the Community Panel, you work as part of a diverse team in interpreting the advertising codes, applying reason, common sense and sensitivity when assessing a wide variety of advertising material. No experience is necessary as you will be taught how to follow our processes and be successful in this role.

Becoming a Community Panel member is a great opportunity for someone who has an interest in, and views on, advertising and community standards.

Who can be a Community Panel member?

Members of the Community Panel come from all walks of life – representative of the diversity of Australian society. They are involved in their community and have empathy and can reflect broader community standards in their decisions.

We want people from all backgrounds to represent Australia on the Panel. We especially encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders, individuals from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, gender and sexuality diverse individuals to apply.

Membership of the Panel is on an individual basis, not as representatives of industry, consumer, or special interest groups.
